Introducing Nurse Plus Academy’s second Next-Generation NCLEX (NGN) practice test, designed to help NCLEX applicants prepare for the upcoming changes in the NCLEX exam. The NGN is the result of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s (NCSBN) research on how to better assess a candidate’s clinical judgment and decision-making skills in nursing practice. Our NGN practice test includes new innovative item types such as Extended Multiple Response, Extended Drag and Drop, Cloze, Highlight Text, Matrix/Grid, Bowtie, and Trend. These new item types will be integrated into unfolding case studies and standalone clinical judgment items, which evaluate the candidate’s understanding of the six sequential steps of the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (NCJMM). Our practice test follows the NGN’s minimum and maximum length of the exam, which is 85 to 150 questions, with 70 to 135 scored and 15 unscored questions. Candidates can take up to five hours to complete the exam, with the NGN case studies being delivered according to the computerized adaptive test (CAT) model. Our practice test also introduces the new polytomous (partial credit) scoring methodology of the NGN, where candidates can receive partial credit for correct responses on items. This scoring methodology includes the 0/1 Scoring Rule, +/- Scoring Rule, and Rationales Scoring Rule. Our goal is to help NCLEX applicants become familiar with the new format of the NGN exam and be adequately prepared for the changes that will launch on April 1, 2023. With our NGN practice test, applicants can confidently prepare and improve their chances of passing the NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-PN exam.
